Lucy L has been involved in the music ministry of Georgetown Baptist Church since 1990. She also ministers alongside her husband pastor Ng Kok Aun who is the senior pastor of the church.

"I was a classically trained musician, but when I was studying music in  Sydney in 1999-2000, my style changed completely - having been seriously introduced to pop and the whole range of contemporary music,'' she discloses. Lucy graduated from Trinity College of Music, London with a major in piano

and cello. She later spent 2 years in Sydney to study contemporary music. While with Hillsong Sydney, she was in the choir for the "By Your Side'' album and also a cellist in "For This Cause” album.

Besides teaching and composing, Lucy also conducts piano workshops for teachers and students. She has a great passion to train the young generation to excel in music and the creative arts. To date, Lucy has produced 3 gospel albums, 3 piano books under the “Because of Love” series and 2 musicals.

There is a great lack of Hokkien/Mandarin gospels songs. Most churches have been singing the same old songs for years. So I started writing Hokkien and Mandarin gospel songs a few years ago but I have never intended to put them into a CD. The songs are mainly sung in my church and a few other local churches. This new album is called “Hope” or in Hokkien “Hee Bang”. Over the years, I’ve found that the Hokkien songs somehow can touch and minister to the Hokkien speaking people’s hearts in a deeper and more personal way,  that gives me the conviction to produce the album. There are 7 Hokkien and 3 Mandarin songs in the album.

I feel that teenagers nowadays hardly speak their dialects, most of them are getting more and more westernized and it’s sad that they are losing their rich cultural heritage. SAND started as an English gospel group. The team members are mostly English educated but they have been taking up lessons to learn to sing in Mandarin. I have also recruited 2 new singers who can sing Hokkien. I hope the more up beat songs like “Forever” which has a rock feel and “Alpha & Omega” that is R & B will appeal to the youth

.

The main singers are:
Lim Chai Lin,  Jessica Loo, Joni Tham, Calvin Lim and Goh Ko Bee
